This is one of the best books to explain the LDS faith that I have found. A friend of another faith pointed out that this book explains everything we believe in one tiny package. It's awesome! It has a lot of words, so I would suggest it for ages 5+. My 4-year-old will usually sit through it, but it can get a little long for him sometimes. However, it is written in a language that any child could understand and enjoy. We have now bought copies of this book to give as baptism presents from the Primary presidency because we feel it explains our purpose on Earth so well compared to anything else we have found.Product details

This book was used for a sharing time activity in my church a few weeks ago and I was impressed with how it was presented by the author. This book can appeal to varying ages because you can simplify or expound depending on what the child's developmental level is. The book has many facts, plus fun pictures to represent them. I love the fact that the author offers deep insightful truths in a simple format. Adults could learn as much as a child.
I purchased "The Great Plan of Happiness" for my grandson. He had so many questions for me on my last visit! There was no doubt that he had read it, studied it, and wanted to know more. The illustrations are cartoony and that worried me, he didn't see them that way. It was easy for my grandson to read this on his own and understand what he was reading from the pictures. Clear and simple. I think I need a copy for every one of my grandkids!
This books goes over premortal, mortal and post mortal life in a fun engaging, but very reverent way. If a parent reads this often with their child in their childhood they would have a VERY good understanding of the BIG PICTURE as far the plan of salvation goes. It includes details about the war in heaven, choices to make on earth, the spirit world, judgment day and the three kingdoms. Excellent, excellent book as are ALL of David Bowman's books.
These books are so great for all ages, they help teach simply and fun, the activities at the end of each story are great. I love that these books can be used in many ways!
This should be it! (Other than scripture of course!) I am so pleased with this and all of David Bowman's illustrated gospel teaching books for children. The Plans of Happiness is our personal favorite though and my 4 and 6 year old ask for it to be read to them regularly. David Bowman has a true genius for packaging gospel concepts in a way that is very easy for children to digest and understand and leaves them loving what they are learning and with a passion and hunger to dig deeper and know more. He does not stray from core doctrine and true principles but manages to make them a lot of fun to learn about.
Such a sweet story and easy enough for my young children to follow!

We love David Bowman. This is a book I heard about a while ago and i was so excited to finally get my hands on it. It's very clear. I read it our four kids the day we got it and though it's VERY detailed, the illustrations make it super fun. It's thorough, and worded well for the kids to follow easily. I'm glad I bought it. It's a nice tool to use to teach FHE for a month on just the plan, taking a couple principles/doctrines at a time and delving a bit into what it means for us personally. Another excellent book by David Bowman.
